SALARY: R1 132 806 – R1 762 857 per annum (LP-9), (Full-cost package)

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Law. For acting prosecutors seeking promotion, any appropriate legal qualification. At least eight (8) years’ of post-qualification experience in civil and criminal litigation. Demonstrable competence to act independently, professionally, responsibly, and with credibility. Right to appear as contemplated under section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998. Extensive prosecutorial or litigation experience in respect of common law offenses such as fraud, theft, forgery and speech, commercial offenses, and related matters. Ability to prosecute, guide investigations in complex or more difficult issues including commercial matters, draft charge sheets including indictments and court documents, and deal with representations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. General computer proficiency and knowledge of MS Office programs. Well-developed skills in legal research and drafting legal documents. Good knowledge of civil and/or criminal procedures.
Knowledge of asset forfeiture law will be an added advantage. Good interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Valid driving license.
DUTIES: Study files, decide on institutions, and conduct criminal proceedings. Deal with any representation. Carry out prosecution of serious, complex, and organized commercial crime and corruption cases. Prepare cases for court, including obtaining additional evidence and drafting charge sheets, indictments, and other court documents. Present the State’s case in court, including examining and cross-examining witnesses and addressing the court on conviction and sentence. Manage case and court flow independently. Consider and deal with appeals and reviews. Advise the police in the investigation of serious, complex, and organized commercial crime and corruption cases. Identify and refer matters to the AFU. Promote partner integration, community engagement, and customer satisfaction in conjunction with criminal justice system partners.
